Grayson targets Lee Hendrie
Speculation is growing that Leeds boss Simon Grayson is set to make a move for Sheffield United midfielder Lee Hendrie. The 32-year-old, who picked up an England cap in 1998, previously made over 250 Premiership appearances for Aston Villa.
Grayson signed Hendrie on loan last season whilst still in charge at Blackpool, and is clearly a fan, stating at the time: 'Lee Hendrie is a good player, he is very versatile and can play through the middle or down either side. He is a player I know from my time at Aston Villa.'
Hendrie would add some welcome flair to United's midfield should they be tempted by an offer for the services of Fabian Delph before the start of the new campaign.

Tvilende

Feeney set for Whites medical
Sky Sports News understands Warren Feeney is to undergo a medical with Leeds United on Monday.
The Northern Ireland international, who has one-year left on his Cardiff City contract, finished last season on loan with Dundee United.
During Feeney's season-long loan at Tannadice the 28-year-old striker scored six league goals in 23 appearances.
Leeds boss Simon Grayson is keen to bolster his attacking options with transfer-listed Jermaine Beckford likely to depart this summer.
League One rivals Huddersfield, Norwich and Charlton have all been linked with moves for Feeney, but it appears as though Leeds are in pole position for his signature.

Leeds still have real pulling power

DARRYL FLAHAVAN says Leeds United's big-club aura remains intact ahead of a third season in League One and insists he would not see a transfer to Elland Road from Crystal Palace as a backwards step.
The experienced goalkeeper is waiting to see whether United's interest in signing him will translate into a summer bid with Palace ready to consider offers for Flahavan.
And he is not troubled by the idea of leaving the Coca-Cola Championship to drop down a division, provided the right club come forward.
Flahavan saw a transfer from Southend United to Palace last summer as "natural progression", coming after eight successful years in Essex.
But he has been unable to make a serious impact at Selhurst Park in the face of fierce competition from the Eagles' first-choice keeper, Julian Speroni, and now looks set for another move.
Selhurst Park manager Neil Warnock has already confirmed that he is willing to sell the 30-year-old to help him find first-team football elsewhere and Flahavan could return to Elland Road on a permanent basis after his loan spell at the end of last term.
The keeper is certainly open to that option and would seriously consider any offer from Leeds. And he has no concerns about the implications of returning to League One with a club of United's stature.
Flahavan said: "On a very basic level, you can look at where Leeds are and where Palace are and say that going to Leeds would be dropping down a level. Personally, I wouldn't see it like that.
"I got some idea of what a huge club Leeds are when I went there on loan last season, and they've still got that aura about them.
"They're in League One but they're not a League One club, and the same could be said about the likes of Southampton, Norwich and Charlton. Those sort of teams have got something about them.
"Whatever division Leeds are in, getting the chance to go there was a fantastic opportunity for me and one that's very difficult for most players to turn down.
"That's a big part of the reason why I went – even though I knew the chances of me getting a run of games weren't particularly high – I just wanted to take the opportunity to be involved with a club like that.
"I don't know whether something more might come of it now but I certainly don't think that going to Leeds would be a backwards step."
Flahavan was Simon Grayson's final signing of the 2008-09 season, joining Leeds in the closing minutes of the Football League's emergency loan market, and every one of Grayson's recruits was brought in from a level above League One.
Flahavan, Richard Naylor, Lee Trundle, Liam Dickinson and Sam Sodje were all captured from the Championship, while Carl Dickinson left Premier League club Stoke City to complete a month-long loan at Elland Road during January and February.
Naylor and Sodje made particularly telling contributions during Leeds' run to the play-offs and although Flahavan ultimately played no part in the club's League One campaign he gained enough from his short period with United to know that a return to Elland Road this summer would be an appealing option.
"I had a bit of a frustrating time before going to Leeds and the little spell up there really got my enthusiasm going again," he said.
"I wasn't playing many games for Palace and I'd picked up a nasty injury to my face in February so there was a danger that my season was going to peter out.
"The worst-case scenario for me was having a few inactive weeks at Palace, finishing up on May 2 and disappearing on holiday without feeling that I'd got my sharpness back.
"When Leeds came in for me, I accepted it was pretty unlikely I'd jump straight into the first team but it was a change of scene, a chance to train with new players and to try to put the other keepers under pressure.
It would have been a massive surprise to me if I'd been thrown into the first team, because Casper (Ankergren) is well established up there, but the fact that Leeds took me in meant there was at least a slight chance that I'd be needed.
"That really helps to focus your mind.
"I'm out of the picture at Palace and I'm behind a very good player in Julian. He's well worth his place – and I have to hold my hands up to that – but if there was an option to go back to Leeds and seriously fight for a shirt then of course I'd be interested. We'll see what happens."
Flahavan saw enough of Grayson's squad to convince himself that the club would win League One's play-offs last month and was genuinely surprised to see United fall short during a two-legged defeat to semi-final opponents Millwall.
Three seasons in their current division was not what Leeds expected or hoped for when they fell from the Championship in 2007, but Flahavan said: "They're still a fantastic club with the potential they've always had.
"Everything about the place was superb – the stadium, the training ground, the crowds they pulled in – and whatever happens over the next couple of months, I'm just pleased that I had the chance to see it all close up.
"They're not going to be at that level for ever."

Whites won't block Sweeney exit: Newell not worried by lack of new signings
Leeds United boss Simon Grayson says he will not prevent Peter Sweeney from returning to Grimsby Town.
Sweeney finished last season on loan at Blundell Park and Mariners manager Mike Newell wants to sign the midfielder permanently.
A deal has yet to be agreed between the two clubs, but Grayson is prepared to allow Sweeney to leave Elland Road over the summer.
Grayson said: "Peter hadn't figured in the team at all under my management, so it was an opportunity for him to go to Grimsby and get some games last season.
"He impressed there, so there is probably a good opportunity to make the move permanent. We won't stand in his way."
Meanwhile, Newell insists he is not concerned by the lack of new arrivals at the League Two club ahead of the start of pre-season training.
Newell told the club's official website: "The players are back on Monday, but there is no rush to bring players in yet.
"Sometimes it takes longer than you would like, but we won't be pressured into signing players that we don't really want.
"Pre-season is about getting fit and I've never worried about results pre-season."

Leeds United to re-sign former striker

WARREN FEENEY is set to step back in time and rejoin first club Leeds United.
The Northern Ireland international striker, who has one year left on his contract at Cardiff City, started his career at Elland Road and was on the books as a trainee from 1998 to 2001 – without ever actually playing a first-team game.
But it looks like being a case of second time lucky for the Belfast-born ace, who is expected to hold talks with boss Simon Grayson early this week over the prospect of a permanent move.
If all goes well the 28-year-old – well known to Whites' number two and Northern Ireland assistant boss Glynn Snodin – is expected to undergo a medical before the Whites' return to pre-season training on Thursday.
League One rivals Huddersfield Town, Norwich City and Charlton Athletic have also been linked with the nippy frontman.
But the lure of a return to his first club is expected to tip the scales in United's favour.
Feeney, a close friend of Harry Kewell during his time at Leeds – the pair were best man at each other's weddings – said: "Leeds are still a massive club and I'm excited.
"I'm just going for talks and there is still plenty of things to discuss. A medical hasn't even been suggested.
"Cardiff have given permission for another club to sign me, so we'll see what happens."
Feeney notched six goals in 23 appearances during a season-long loan spell at SPL outfit Dundee United last season, but the Terrors are not thought to be in a position to press ahead for a full-time move, especially after the collapse of Setanta.
Feeney, capped 31 times by his country, has scored five times, including the only goal of the game in a 1-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Slovenia in April.

Newly-promoted Premiership side Burnley are the latest club to be linked with a move for transfer-listed Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford. (YEP)

Big-money Blades bid claims
Sheffield United are tipped to beat Coventry, Doncaster, Newcastle and Barnsley to the signing of Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford.
Reports claims the Blades will do a £5m deal which will include £2m-rated hitman Billy Sharp moving to Elland Road as part of the deal.
Beckford has been transfer listed by the Whites after turning down a new deal with the West Yorkshire outfit and it appears Kevin Blackwell's offer would represent good business for the 25-year-old Londoner.
The Sky Blues, Rovers, Magpies and Tykes have all been linked but the Blades are flush with cash following the award of compensation for the Carlos Tevez affair.
