STOKES SEALS BLADES SWITCH
Sunderland striker Anthony Stokes has joined Coca-Cola Championship side Sheffield United on a three-month loan.
Stokes has struggled to break into the Sunderland first team this season after manager Roy Keane brought in forwards Djibril Cisse, El Hadji Diouf and David Healy over the summer.

Hassell target

Barnsley defender Bobby Hassell is rumoured to be a summer target for both Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United.
The 28 year-old has been an important figure in Simon Davey's Oakwell revolution, and will feature again at right-back against Championship play-off chasers Cardiff City at Ninian Park tonight.

United in no hurry to tie up duo's deals

Two of Leeds United’s most experienced players will be kept waiting for talks over their future at the club.
The contracts of captain Frazer Richardson, 26, and Republic of Ireland international Jonathan Douglas, 27, are due to expire in the summer, but United are in no rush to negotiate new deals for the pair.
That doesn’t necessarily mean Rotherham-born defender Richardson and former Blackburn midfielder Douglas will leave at the end of the season, as United are waiting to see which division the team will be playing in next term before committing themselves.
Manager Simon Grayson said: “Obviously we are aware of the situation. Contract talks have not started because we don’t know what division we will be in next season.
“The players are aware of that and are relaxed about the situation.
“I am sure if we are promoted they will be desperate to stay, and even if we are in League One again they will want to be associated with this club, so contract talks will be put on hold until the summer.”
Rright back Richardson, who is currently injured, is United’s longest-serving player, while Douglas has filled the role of emergency right back in the last two games during the absence of Richardson and Andrew Hughes.
The first-team squad return to training tomorrow after two days off to recover from their two games in three days against Scunthorpe and Oldham, which reaped four points.
Jonathan Howson returns from a one-match ban at Bristol Rovers on Saturday, but Bradley Johnson is missing through suspension, having reached five bookings for the season last weekend.
Meanwhile, more than 8,000 United fans have pledged their allegiance by renewing their season tickets before the early deadline, which expired on Monday.
That is around 70 per cent of current season ticket holders, with the rest presumably hanging on to see which division Leeds are in next season.
Leeds are currently in the play-off spots but they face another tricky period starting at the end of the month.
They have six matches in three weeks, including four against sides in the promotion race, starting with second-placed Milton Keynes and also including runaway leaders Leicester.

Douglas keen on Whites deal
Leeds midfielder open to extending Elland Road stay

Jonathan Douglas has confirmed his desire to sign a new contract with League One play-off hopefuls Leeds United.
The former Blackburn Rovers midfielder, who has been with Leeds since the summer of 2005, is out of contract at the end of the season.
Douglas has more League One starts than any other Leeds player this term and has shown his versatility of late after filling in at right-back due to injuries to Frazer Richardson and Andy Hughes.
The 27-year-old is currently focusing on ensuring Leeds finish inside the top six in League One and is just hoping his performances between now and the summer prompt the club to offer fresh terms.

No deal on the table
"I'm up at the end of the season," he told the club's official website. "I haven't been offered anything, but we'll wait and see at the end of the season.
"I'd like to stay, especially if we go up, but that's not my decision, it's out of my hands. I can only do what I can do on the pitch.
"The manager has other things on his mind at the moment instead of worrying about other people's contracts!
"There's a long way to go and hopefully I will get one. I'm just concentrating on the games we have left and the points we have to play for." (Sky)

http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/wdp/sport/football/Trundle-set-City-return-spell-Leeds/article-753192-detail/article.html

Lee Trundle will almost certainly be back at Ashton Gate next week.
Bristol City's ÂŁ1 million striker has spent the past two months on loan at League One Leeds United.
But Whites boss Simon Grayson has given no indication that he wishes to retain Trundle's services for a third month and Trundle is expected to return to Bristol after Tuesday's fixture against Yeovil Town at Elland Road.

Gillespie is a no go at City
BRADFORD CITY manager Stuart McCall insists Keith Gillespie will not be offered a contract even though he is training with the club.
Ex-Manchester United and Newcastle winger Gillespie, 34, is a free agent having left Sheffield United earlier this season.
But McCall said: “Keith is training with us as he just wants somewhere to keep his fitness levels up.
“His experience might help the others while he’s here, but he’s not with us with a view to anything.”  (The Sun)

Ironisk nok har spilleren vĂŠrt diskutert i TromsĂž etter at Mark Dempsey (tidligere tre i United) kom til klubben.
Mark Dempsey var meget positiv til spilleren.
