Alex Bruce is set to quit Ipswich - after the defender announced his decision on Facebook. (Daily Star) Burnley Refute Bruce LinkBurnley manager Owen Coyne has denied yesterday’s reports linking Alex Bruce with his club. Bruce has become a fringe player at Town in the last couple of months and was mentioned in connection with the Clarets and Leeds United. Coyle said: “I speak to Jim Magilton quite a lot and as much as I think the boy's a good player, it's not a name we've ever discussed.” Leeds will join the battle for Ipswich defender Alex Bruce next month. (Daily Star) Leeds to battle for Championship defender? Alex Bruce has emerged as a target for the Whites The 24-year-old looks to have little prospect of a future at Ipswich, where his contract expires next summer. No new deal will be put to Bruce until the season draws to a close but he will be free to talk to other clubs from January. Norwich City, Burnley, Barnsley and Preston are also being linked with the player.

GARY SPEED hopes to land his first job in management at Swindon. The Sheffield United veteran, 39, has been interviewed and is the Robins’ No 1 pick.

The Daily Mail says Allardyce knows he will not have the luxury of the same large support staff he enjoyed at Bolton and Newcastle. Poyet in frame for Leeds post
ONE OF Sam Allardyce's first moves was to take Leeds United's first-team coach Neil McDonald to Ewood Park with him. Leeds manager Gary McAllister, probably feeling exposed after four consecutive defeats and with a trip to MK Dons today, said: "I'm not happy with the way it was done." You can imagine McAllister is beginning to worry - as we speculated before the home defeat to Colchester last Saturday - and needs an interruption like this like a third-minute own goal. MK Dons are eight points ahead of Leeds, who are now two places outside the play-off zone. Leeds chairman Ken Bates is at the match today, though has rubbished any possible symbolic reading of that. But a book has been opened on Leeds's next manager. Gus Poyet is favourite. What a game this is.

Midfield WHIZ-KID ignores Arsenal interest Fabian Delph continues to ignore speculation he is on his way to Arsenal Football Club. The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the most talented youngsters in England this season, due to a number of impressive displays for struggling Leeds United. It has been heavily reported that Arsene Wenger is willing to pay ÂŁ6million to promote Delph from League One to the Premier League, but the player is keeping his feet on the ground. "I don't read the newspapers - I don't take any notice," he told Goal.com. "I just stay level headed. My family keeps me focused and I have good friends and good people around the club who help me a lot."

Grayson var desperat etter å signe am permanent når han var i Blackpol. Altså vil dette være en stor forsterkning. Det at han samtidig er ung lover meget godt for fremtiden

Grayson will attempt to lure Blackpool targets to LeedsLEEDS UNITED'S new manager Simon Grayson has warned his former club Blackpool that he wants to beat them to some of their New Year transfer targets. Grayson, whose departure from Bloomfield Road has already sparked a wrangle between the clubs, thinks the lure of a move to Elland Road will be hard for some players to turn down. Speaking after Leeds salvaged a late point against League One leadeADVERTISEMENTrs Leicester City yesterday, Grayson said: "I have got targets and, hopefully, some of the targets I had lined up for Blackpool in January could possibly come to this football club. "The attraction of Leeds United is a massive plus for everyone. That's why I came here and it is why players will also want to come here." Grayson has vowed to give all the club's existing players the opportunity to impress but admits that some will be leaving next month. A crowd of 33,580, the highest in the Football League this season, watched Grayson open his Elland Road reign with a well-deserved draw against Leicester thanks to an equaliser in stoppage time from substitute Robert Snodgrass. Grayson, who was given a standing ovation on his introduction, said: "To get a late equaliser against the league leaders is a positive result. "I know there is a lot of work to be done, and we could have played better at times, but we showed a lot of desire, resolve and spirit to keep going to the end. If the game had gone on for another five or ten minutes, we would have won it. Hopefully, that is the first point of many to come." Grayson refused to divulge the exact length of his contract with Leeds but indicated that it stretched beyond the end of the existing season. "It is going to be longer than that. Unless I lose 10 games on the trot and, like any manager, I will (then) be out. But I am happy with the length of the contract and my ambition is to get the club out of this division," he said. "The chairman (Ken Bates) has told me to give it my best shot and see where it takes us. If we put a good run together over the next few weeks, there will be no stopping this football club." Grayson revealed that, despite any bitterness over his departure, Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston had sent his best wishes for the future. "I wanted to leave Blackpool in a good manner and with the blessing of the fans and the board," he said. "The chairman has wished me good luck but now it's down to the clubs to resolve it. "I had a fantastic six years there as a player and manager and theirs was the first result I looked for today. Hopefully we will play them next year in the Championship." Grayson has appointed his former Blackburn and Leicester City colleague Ian Miller as coach and hopes to unveil another addition to the backroom staff in the coming days. YEP

Jeg har nettopp sett på kampen Blackpool v. Wolverhampton.

Whites face fight for striker Simon Grayson will have to fend off strong interest from old club Blackpool and elsewhere in the Championship to land wanted man Alan Gow. The Leeds United boss is set to make a £200,000 move for the Glasgow Rangers frontman when the transfer window opens tomorrow. The 26-year-old's loan spell with the Seasiders ended after last night's clash with leaders Wolves – with the Scot netting five goals in 17 games in a productive spell at Bloomfield Road. Pool are keen to sign the striker permanently, but big admirer Grayson could yet beat them to the punch. After his final game in charge of Blackpool against Swansea on December 20, Grayson expressed a desire to land six-footer Gow permanently, although his agent Phil McTaggart says he hasn't had direct contact from him this month. But with the new Whites' chief having warned his former club on Boxing Day that he is aiming to pip them to several transfer targets on his new year wish-list, the smart money is on Grayson firming up a move imminently. Gow, capped once by the Scotland B team, was also the target of summer interest from Norwich and Burnley, snubbing a move to Turf Moor as part of the transfer deal that saw Kyle Lafferty move to Ibrox for £3.25m. At the time, boyhood Gers fan Gow harboured hopes of having a long-term future at the Scottish giants. But it remains to be seen whether he has one upon his return north of the border with Rangers willing to sell him last summer. McTaggart said: "Being 100 per cent honest, I've not spoken to Simon in connection to Alan for maybe over a month. But I know he did want to sign him at Blackpool. "He enjoyed his time at Blackpool and Simon was good enough to give him the opportunity and from Alan's side, he gave it back and got them some vital points and goals at the right time. "There's a few clubs in the Championship looking at him and asking me questions. "He's done well (at Blackpool). He's had some game time and has scored something like five goals. It was much-needed after only playing at Rangers just twice in a year. He's showed he can play and score goals in that division (Championship). "That's alerted a lot of clubs. And obviously Rangers were willing to sell him in August time and there was a bit of interest from Norwich and Burnley etc. People knew that he was available. "People know the package (with Alan) and know he's quite appealing to a few teams. If somebody did come in, they'd know what they are going to get." Gow was also linked with SPL side Motherwell, Birmingham City and Doncaster Rovers last summer. Meanwhile, Tony Parkes – Grayson's no.2 at Blackpool – has thrown his hat into the ring to land the Seasiders job on a full-time basis – with Steve Thompson as his deputy. Grayson who has already brought in Ian Miller – right-hand man to Colin Hendry during his time in the Pool hotseat, was instantly linked with a move for the backroom duo after being handed the Elland Road reins.

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson weighs up January transfer moves
New Leeds United manager Simon Grayson has confirmed he will be looking to bring in fresh faces when the January transfer window opens tomorrow. The former Blackpool boss will be working alongside technical director Gwyn Williams and the pair have already discussed potential targets. “There are things that are going on in the background, but there’s no guarantee as to when,” said Grayson. “I’ll be working closely with Gwyn, but you also have to give the players here an opportunity. “Hopefully, there will be a couple because there is a need for freshness and competition for places.” Ripon-born Grayson has already brought in one new recruit. Former Blackburn and Leicester coach Ian Miller has joined the new Elland Road coaching staff and will travel with the squad for Saturday’s away match with Coca-Cola League One’s bottom club Hereford United. Grayson has been at the helm for only eight days, but has already presided over a draw with top-of-the-table Leicester City last week and a 3-1 win over Stockport County on Sunday. “It’s been very busy, but it’s been a fantastic start,” he said. “I want to make an impact and hopefully we’ve done that. “Hopefully, over the next months, we can continue to do that and the more victories will see the confidence and belief come back.” Malcolm Christie was also a benefactor from Sunday’s win. The injury-prone forward, signed by former boss Gary McAllister in November, came off the bench to score his first goal for United and round off the team’s victory. “It’s absolutely fantastic to score again,” said Christie. “As people know, I’ve had a rough time of it, but I’ve put in a lot of hard work.” Although the former Derby and Middlesbrough striker was signed by McAllister, he is happy to be a part of the new manager’s regime. “The gaffer wants to get everyone organised and know their roles,” said the striker. “It’s back to basics at the moment because it’s about results. We’ve got to look up the league, but hopefully we can build on that. “Now we have to go and string a run of results together.”
