Derek Riordan nears Celtic exit as Leeds and Burnley ready offers

ENGLISH Championship side Burnley look set to end Derek Riordan's hell at Celtic - despite interest from Leeds United.
Elland Road manager Gary McAllister is preparing a £500,000 move for the out-of-favour Parkhead ace.
McAllister sees Riordan as the player who can boost his team's chances of making a push for promotion next season.
However, Leeds' failure to win their play-off final against Doncaster nine days ago and subsequent participation in next season's English League One has put a dent in their hopes of landing the ex-Hibee.

Burnley boss Owen Coyle, who can promise Riordan Championship football, remains in pole position.
Moves, though, will stay on hold until the saga surrounding Kyle Lafferty is resolved.
The Northern Ireland international looks certain to leave Turf Moor with Rangers and Wolves both interested.
Burnley are holding out for a fee close to their £4m valuation and, if it comes in, they will sell and press forward with their move for Riordan having had a £400,000 bid booted out by Celtic last season

Elding linked with Crewe

It seems that the Railwaymen are interested in signing Anthony Elding from League One rivals Leeds United.
26-year-old Elding nearly joined the Railwaymen back in January after they had agreed a £200k fee with Stockport County.
Though a bid from League One rivals Leeds United swayed the decision for Elding to sign for them ahead of the Railwaymen, Elding then signed a deal that would of kept him at Elland Road unitl 2010.
Now BBC Radio Leeds is now understands that Gary McAllister is open to offers for the former Boston United striker who only made nine appearances for United netting only once.

Crystal Palace striker Dougie Freedman says he will make a decision on where his future lies after he has taken a summer holiday.
He is unlikely to be in Palace boss Neil Warnock's first team plans for next season, so will have to decide whether to stick it out and fight on or move to another club.
Freedman spent the last few months of the season on loan at Leeds where he was a great success, scoring six goals in 14 appearances, and there may be something on offer from the Yorkshiremen.
"I've had a good season with a bitterly disappointing end so I'm going to have a holiday for a couple of weeks," he said. "I'll come back and then decide which path I'm going to take.
"I've still got another year at Palace. I might think 'You know, I've done it before, maybe I can change the manager's mind'. I'm confident I can do that.
"Have I got the fight in me right now? No, I haven't. But if I have a holiday I might return and say 'Let me have a crack at this for three or four months'."

Leeds United linked with Gretna midfielder

According The Sun, Leeds United are in a race with Brighton & Hove Albion and Ipswich Town to sign Abdul Osman from Gretna. Who? From where?
As former SPL-club Gretna are in what, sadly, may be a terminal administration it is probably the case that Osman is no longer their player. Usually administration means no wages paid and under League rules players become free agents and so technically Osman would not be signed from Gretna.
Abdul Osman was signed by Gretna in the summer of 2007 from English non-league football - Maidenhead to be precise. He made 18 SPL appearances (including 2 subs), scored one goal and picked up six yellow cards - a worrying average of one every three games, including the subs appearances! Leeds United already has its share of players who pick up meaningless bookings (Douglas, Kandol, Beckford, Prutton, Sheehan) and doesn’t need another player who can’t control himself.
Unless there is a Gretna fan willing to come on here and say he was a playmaker or tower of strength in midfield the bare facts suggest we should keep clear.

Dougie Set For Palace Coaching Role?

Dougie Freedman could be taking on a coaching role with Crystal Palace sooner rather than later after his loan spell with Leeds came to an end. 
The popular frontman stayed with Leeds on loan from Crystal Palace until the very end, playing in the League One play-off final defeat against Doncaster Rovers last month.
Freedman has one year left on his current deal with Palace and, earlier this year, he hinted at his desire to move into coaching when his playing days were over.
As yet, neither Leeds or the player have confirmed whether the 34-year-old plans to return to Elland Road next season.
But Freedman's personal circumstances are likely to see him remain with Palace for the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park.
Freedman admitted in January: "Becoming Crystal Palace manager would be special but that's looking way into the future. But then why not? I'll try working to something like that."

Denne Gary Teale som er linka idag kan bli ein god signing for oss. Huska han som ein meget frisk høgrekant for Wigan tidlegare. Men eg trudde jo at midtbanen var den lagdelen me hadde best dekning..  Det kan nok bli eindel nye fjes pÃ¥ Elland Road i august.

Det er mulig at spillerne vi har blitt linket til de siste dagene er relativt urealistiske med tanke på en Leeds-overgang. En ting er derimot sikkert og det er at ønskelisten vår bærer klare preg av ambisjon og selvtillit.

Macca har ikke vært særlig klar på noe som helst i media, foruten at han ønsker flere spillere inn, noe jeg synes er veldig smart. Men, når den offisielle siden skriver en artikkel, med ønske om både Derek Riordan og Kevin Phillips, så tyder det på mer enn bare rykter. Det samme tror jeg gjelder Nicky Maynard. "Ingen røyk uten ild," er det noe som heter.

Vi har allerede signert Andy Robinson fra mesterlaget Swansea. At han valgte Leeds i L1, fremfor Swansea i CCC, er jo selvsagt et kompliment til oss og vår fremtid.

Det er selvsagt ikke sikkert at vi signerer noen av de spillerne auren nevner på lista si, men å kaste seg inn i kampen om spillere, sammen med CCC og til og med PL-klubber, synes jeg er et klart håp om bedre tider på overgangsfronten.

Saints win race to sign Holmes

Southampton have beaten off competition from Leeds United and Nottingham Forest to land Derby County midfielder Lee Holmes on a Bosman free transfer.
The 21-year-old became the Rams' youngest ever player when he made his first-team debut for the club on Boxing Day 2002 aged 15 years and 268 days.
However, Holmes' career has stalled in the last two seasons and he spent the first half of the 2006-07 campaign on loan with Bradford City before moving to Walsall on a temporary basis in January.
Holmes made 29 first-team starts and 23 appearances from the substitute's bench for County.

Litt overraskende dette synes jeg. Hadde egentlig god tro på Elding, men han lyktes ikke helt de gangene han fikk sjansen, og da er veien kort til utgangsdøra. Blir ikke overrasket om han blir en hit for Crewe...

Enig. Kan sikkert bli god nok for Crewe, men Leeds bør satse høyere enn en spiller som dette. Både Maynard, Riordan og Phillips er mye bedre. Vi får håpe at en av disse signerer for Leeds. Vi bør absolutt prøve å lokke Maynard den andre veien i salget av Elding.
